Description

Surrey papers Papers relating to freehold and copyhold property in Egham, including the King's Head Inn. This property was purchased by Robert Lord from the Wight family in 1669. On the death of Mrs Lord in 1725, Robert Lord's estates in Surrey and Kent passed to his to daughters Mary and Elizabeth who married respectively William Leigh of Adlestrop and Colonel Thomas Wentworth. By a deed of partition in 1729 the Surrey lands passed to Elizabeth and Col. Wentworth, but by a marriage settlement dated 1762 were granted by Elizabeth Wentworth to the Rev. Thomas Leigh and Mary his wife
