Admin History

Pebworth is a civil parish, which includes the village of that name and the hamlet of Broad Marston.

Until 1931, Pebworth and Broad Marston formed part of Gloucestershire, but they were transferred to Worcestershire under boundary adjustments that year, following ministerial approval and a private Act of Parliament, as permitted by the Local Government Act, 1929.

Pebworth has been referred to as one of the 'Shakespeare villages', through being listed as 'Piping Pebworth' in a verse associated with the tale of William Shakespeare's drinking contest at Bidford-on-Avon.

These papers refer to Pebworth Pastures Farm [C19], land at Pebworth and Broad Marston known as Keyes or Robbins [C17] and land at Broad Marston known as Yellows or Yellowes [C17].
