Description

Lease from Robert Sutton abbot of the monastery of Our Lady of Stonley and the Convent of the same place, to Richard Hyll of Henwell Grange of their lodge called Greigpooleloge and the waste called Greigpoolewast in the hamlet of Kynges hyll beside Helenhull Graunge, lying in length between the waste of the said abbey called Welchmans Waste and Fulleslowe waste, and a lane called Helinhull Lane, alias the Grenelane, and in breadth from the arable fields of Kingeshill to a lane reaching from Stichall waste; to hold the same from Lady Day 1533 for 28 years, rendering annually £9. 6s. 8d., paying suit of court twice a year at Stonley town, and a heriot when due; and the said Richard may have the lops and crops of the trees growing there, but must nourish all oaks, ashes, elms and crabtrees, on pain of a fine of double the price of each tree which should be felled; and he must also maintain the said premises, for the repair of which the said abbot shall provide sufficient great timber.
