Description

Lease from John Gregorie of Stonley, gent., to William Godfrey of the same, husbandman, of a messuage and two closes adjoining, containing three acres in the tenure of Henry Gamble, a messuage with a close of one acre in the tenure of Timothy Bartlett, a messuage and close of one acre in the tenure of Anne Lante, widow, a close of pasture called Neathill, containing sixty acres in the tenure of the said Henry, Timothy and Anne, and a close of pasture, part of the Woodfeyld, containing sixty acres in the tenure of the said Timothy, Henry and William Lante and John Westburye; all which premises are situate in Kingshill; to hold the same for 3 years, at a peppercorn rent, with a proviso that the lease would be void if the said John paid to the said William Godfrey 12 pence during the said term. Dated: 3 January, 18 James I. Signed: John Gregory Oval seal applied, papered. Witnesses: James Prescott, Thomas Willes, Gregory Grissold, ----- Wootton (by mark), William Astley (by mark), Robert Clarke (by mark), John Halle (by mark). Endorsed with memorandum, dated 5 January 1621/2, that the said John Gregory paid twelve pence to the said William Godfrey, whereupon the lease was surrendered. Signed: William Godfray (by mark).
