Description

The King's debt due to Mr Cheeke. Draft of an account. The sums demanded by Thomas Cheeke by quarterly bills in respect of his salary and fees,from his appointment as lieutenant of the Tower in April 1679 to Lady Day 1685, total £4,610;16:3 1/2 . In June 1687 he was removed from the post by King James, and on 23 August a grant was made to Edward and Francis Russell in trust for his wife and children of £600 per annum for 10 years, in compensation for loss of the office, of which only £600 has been paid. The total debt thus amounts to £10,010:16:3 1/2 .
