[Sir] George Throckmorton to Mrs. [Maud] Archer, [widow of Richard]: Has received letter from Kings Council ordering him to give her possession of late husband's lands and receive profits 'untill the kings pleasure be further knowen'. Asks her to repay moneys he has laid out for her 'necessary charges'. Refers to his under sheriff. [A/c DEP Richard Archer, d.5 Oct 1544: A/c Dugdale George Throckmorton was sheriff 35 H8 [1543-4 poss 1544] Therefore if this is 1544 Richard Archer died before 5 October.
