Cheeke, Russell Tipping families: Archer of Tanworth

Description

The Rt. Hon. Katherine Countess of Dorchester to the Rt. Hon the lords commissioners of his Majesty's Treasury. Copy of memorial. Application has been made to his Majesty by Lady Russell to stop the payment of certain Irish quitrents to the memorialist, and accounts have been made up by the accountant general showing her to have been overpaid by £3,133:3:7 frac38;. In fact there is money owing to her, and as the account was made up without the knowledge of her or of her agent Mr.Harrison, who is also Lady Russell's agent, she asks for reasonable time for a state of the two accounts to be prepared, and that meanwhile the order for stopping payment of the quitrents to her be suspended. Attached, a piece of paper pinned to form a band; in Lady Russell's hand; 'these La Dochestars petition my one to ye Lds of ye tresuary what ye Lawear pleded before them in 1717'. [The two other enclosures are no longer attached, but appear to be nos.347 and 348.
