Guild of the Holy Cross: Grants and leases

Description

Counterpart of lease, indented, from Thomas Whateley, master of the Gild of the Holy Cross etc. of Straford vppon Avyn, William Phillips, Thomas Taylour, Olyuer Lyghtfote, Hughe Raynoldes, Henry Samwell, John Combes, Thomas Phillips and Henry Hill, aldermen, and Henry Bedull' and Robert Honyate, proctors of the same Gild, to Richard Hill, of a tenement in Straford in Henley Strete late in the tenure of Richard Monyngley, and of a garden in Henley lane late in the tenure of Richard Colley, for 31 years at an annual rent of 14 shillings and chief rents `what soo euer they be', and keeping the said tenement and garden in proper repair. With notarial mark of R[oger] E[gynton] Dated 26 November, 26 Henry VIII Seal of red wax, circular, broken. A squirrel. (Engraved in Fisher's Antiquities. no.133)
