Licence from Henry Earl of Lancaster and Leicester, Steward of England, to William de Thorp' allowing him to alienate the Manor of Brinkelowe with appurtenances which he held of the said Duke in capite, to the Abbot and Convent of Coumbe to hold to them and their successors for ever notwithstanding the Statute `contra religiosos'; saving always to the said Earl all liberties, services and customs whatsoever to the said Earl due and customary. Dated at `Novum Castrum subtus Limam' [Newcastle under Lyme] the 3rd day of June, 17 Edward III. Seal on tongue: red, broken. The Seal of the Abbot and Convent of Combe. Tie lost.
