Description

Letters patent of John, bishop of Coventren' and Lichen' addressed to the Archdeacon of Coventr' and all the rectors, vicars, and priests, etc. of the said Archdeaconry relating to a dispute concerning the chapel of Stuyvechale between the Prior and Convent of the Cathedral Church and the parishoners there over the burial of their dead in their parish church and not in the chapel; and he commands that burial in the said chapel should be forbidden under pain of greater excommunication. Dated at Eccleshale, 10 November 1407. Seal on tongue; 2 fragments in green wax of the diocesan seal. Endorsed: ?Susrensio capelle de Stuyvechale
