Account books of the Borough Chamberlain
Description
These volumes record payments made and received by the Corporation of Stratford-upon-Avon. The subject matter of the payments recorded in the account books is similiar to those contained in the volumes of receipts and vouchers (ref BRU/5) e.g. Repairs to bridges, roads, Corporation property, charities, and salaries of Council officials including the vicar, curate, and schoolteachers. The account books also record payments for bellringing on special occasions. Payments received principally include rents and tithes
