Description

Probate of nuncupative will, made 15 December 1653, of Amy Crabbe, late wife of Matthias Crabbe of Alcester, mercer. She having liberty granted to her by him, the said Matthias, to make bequests to value of £300. (1) £50 each to children Jonathan Emes, Margaret Emes and Elizabeth Emes, to be paid by her said husband Matthias Crabbe. (2) To said children, such items of plate and linen as were verbally agreed to at time of will by testator and husband and inventoried after her death, viz: 8 pair flaxen sheets 6 flaxen tablecloths 2 flaxen cupboard cloths 5 holland pillowcases 40 flaxen napkins 1 diaper tablecloth 1 diaper cupboard cloth 2 dozen diaper napkins 2 damask towels 1 pair holland sheets 1 dozen clearing napkins 2 parcels of childbed linen 2 small trunks 2 cushnetts Various pieces of plate weighing 56 ¼ oz. To be divided as equally as possible among children. Witnesses to will: Matthew Bridges, esq. and Margaret Yarnold, widow. Witnesses to probate: William Fetherston, John Bridges.
