Description

Draft declaration respecting premises in High Street and Ely Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, contracted to be sold to Messrs. James and George Callaway, builders, by William Bartlett Oakes, Birmingham. Recites: Feb 1834 : Death of Robert Bartlett, formerly City of London, grocer, then of Stratford-upon-Avon, gent. Finding his will among papers (which will is void as to devising real estate because only 2 witnesses). Entry of John Bartlett, only son and heir at law of Robert, into premises. Sept 1842 : Death of John Bartlett, and devise by will of premises to cousin John Oakes, Coventry, ribbon weaver, for life with remainder to eldest son of John Oakes and heirs male. Sept 1858 : Death of John Oakes, succeeded by his eldest son William Oakes, Coventry, ribbon weaver. Jan 1864 : Death of William Oakes intestate leaving William Bartlett Oakes as eldest son and heir at law.
