Description

Case with opinion of Mr. Daniels as to form of the Will [16 Dec 1844] of Joseph Southwell Stokes, Sunderland, Esq., being sufficiently clear as to disposition of property under Settlement of 1840. Testator leaves real estate to trustees chargeable with £100 annuity to Violet Foy his natural daughter with residue to niece Helen Ann Honora Graham daughter of testator's sister Honora Anna Seward Graham and her husband Francis Hastings Graham. Under settlement of 1840 (partly recited) John Allen Stokes only brother of testator was entitled to half interest in settlement estates for life then to his wife and children. The other half devolved upon the Grahams.
