Description

Lease from Ralph Cudworth, Doctor of Divinity and Master of Christ's College, Cambridge, and the fellows and scholars of the same, to John Willes of Weedon Pinkeny, co. Northants., yeoman, and Frances Lee of Stichall, widow, of all their lands, tenements, meadows and pastures, etc. in the town and fields of Stichall (reserving to the said College the coal-pits there dug, and all trees there growing); to hold the same for 21 years, rendering annually 8 shillings, four bushels of purkey wheat and two bushels of barley malt to the said College, and to the lord of the manor 4 shillings and one half pound of cumin; and the said John and Frances agree to make within a year a terrier of the said lands. Tag and seal cut off. At the foot is a note from Brouncker Watts to Mr. Gregory that he has sent him the lease above and its assignment to Ed. Watts his father, and informing Mr. Gregory that his new lease bears date 7 August 1673 [see nos. 831, 890]. Endorsed: Lease of the Colidge land [LG]
