Description

Counterpart of lease, indented, from John Palmer, chaplain of the Gild of the Holy Cross, etc., of Stratford upon Auen, with the assent of the master, proctors and aldermen of the same, to William Bole and Margaret his wife, of a cottage in Stratford in Swynestrete between a tenement of Agnes Fretter and a cottage of the said Gild in the tenure of the said John Palmer; which cottage the grantor held by the grant of the said master, proctors and aldermen together with other lands and tenements for term of his life: to hold to the said William and Margaret for 70 years at an annual rent of 3s.4d. who should build anew the said cottage within a year, and afterwards keep it in repair Witnesses: John Sclatter, `capitalis ballivus', John Harrop' `subballivus', John Mayell, John Kyngus, Richard Compton and others Dated at Stratford, Saturday in the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 19 Henry VI Endorsed: William Bole potter Seals of red wax.
