Legal cases - Gregory family

Description

Draft of a declaration in court by Baldwin Hill that one Cuthbert Hill, being seised of lands as of fee of Arthur Gregory as of the said manor, by his will dated 13 June, 9 Elizabeth [1567], devised the said property to the said Baldwin Hill to hold from the day of his death for twenty years with reversion to Thomas Hill, the son and heir of the said Cuthbert. Cuthbert Hill died the same day, and Thomas Hill, as son and heir, entered into his inheritance. The said Baldwin Hill also entered into possession of the said premises devised to him but only as a tenant for a term of years. Therefore he could not answer to the said Henry Brunt and sought assistance from the said Thomas Hill. Endorsed: Thomas Hill, heriott [AG]
