Frederick Morris: Photographs of the War Memorial

Description

Eight photographic prints, recording the transfer of the War Memorial by Bird's Motors Ltd, from the Bancroft Gardens to the Garden of Rest (later the Memorial Garden), Stratford-upon-Avon.

These prints bear a range of references, suggesting that they have been formed into a number of sequences at differing times, some of which may relate to items elsewhere in the collection DR315. At the time of cataloguing, it has not been possible to fully identify the original order. so the number sequence allocated when the collection was deposited with the Trust has been retained. An earlier complete sequence has been noted and a cross reference is provided below. This also shows the paper each print was developed on - Ilford or Velox.

Each catalogue entry records which paper and all references accumulated over time and it is hoped that in due course, this varied pattern of referencing will be tracked across the collection.

Earlier / SBT Ref:
1 - DR315/2/75 - Velox
2 - DR315/2/74 - Velox
3 - DR315/2/73 - Ilford
4 - DR315/2/72 - Velox
5 - DR315/2/71 - Velox
6 - DR315/2/70 - Velox
7 - DR315/2/69 - Ilford
8 - DR315/2/76 - Velox

These prints appear to have been taken for personal use, rather than commercially produced. The photographer is not identified, but at the time of cataloguing is believed to be Frederick Morris.

Included with this set of prints is an empty wallet for Ilford photographic films. No negatives were found at the time of cataloguing.
