Verses written in honour of the Duke of Somerset (the Protector)

Description

Manuscript copy of verses written in honour of Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset (the Protector). The first two items are ballads by William Gray, followed by a copy of his last words on the scaffold and an epitaph.

The sections are headed as follows:
1. The first new year gift given unto Edward, Duke of Somerset, by William Graie, gent., 4 Edward VI.
2. Another new year gift given unto the said Duke by the aforesaid Graie.
3. The declaration made by the Duke of Somerset on the scaffold at Tower Hill, 29 January 1551.
4. An epitaph made upon the late Duke of Somerset beheaded 29 January 1551.
