Mercury Trust Barbican Centre: Sir Fordham Flower, Stratford-upon-Avon

Correspondence and papers relating to the Mercury Theatre Trust and Barbican Centre: Between 1962 and 1965 the Royal Shakespeare Theatre were associated with the Mercury Theatre Trust in a project to build a new theatre in Notting Hill Gate, London, as a home for the Ballet Rambert and the Royal Shakespeare Company. The scheme came to nothing after the RSC accepted an approach from the Corporation of London to make their London base at the new Barbican Centre.
