Abstracts of documents relating to a dispute between Thomas Flower and his younger brother: i) 9 May 1701: settlement on the marriage of Edward Flower [father of Thomas], son of Thomas Flower and Elizabeth his wife, to Catherine Bracebridge, being an agreement that the said Thomas Flower should purchase an estate worth £4 p.a. in or near Wter Orton or Sutton Coldfield, and settle it to his own use during his life, to the use of his wife Elizabeth after his death, and to te use of the said Edward Flower and his heirs male after the death of Elizabeth ii) will of Thomas Flower, in which his wife Elizabeth is said to have resigned her life interest in the said property for £400, on condition that Edward Flower pays her £5 p.a. in recompense for joining in the sale of the gravel pits in Sutton Coldfield, being part of her jointure iii) Thomas Flower having died without purchasing the estate mentioned in i) and Elizabeth having died, making the said Edward Flower her residuary legatee, the said Edward died, leaving a considerable estate to his second son, while Thomas FLower his son and heir was made residuary legatee, but has not sufficient funds to pay his father's debts.
