Autograph Collection: Vincent Davis album

Book of autographs kept by James Vincent Davis, Southern Lane, Stratford-upon-Avon (formerly A8). Sixty-three leaves have been used, each containing eight signatures, mostly of visiting theatrical figures but including some of local dignatories. (James) Vincent Davis was the son of Elias Davis, stonemason, of 59 Waterside, Stratford-upon-Avon, who had developed a pleasure boat business on the River Avon, using the quay opposite his home. In 1901, Vincent's age is given as 26 and his occupation as assistant in his father's business. A whimsical portrait of him, by Eileen Watson, occurs on p. 44a.
