Manor of Temple Balsall. View of Frankpledge with Court Baron of Algernon, duke of Northumberland, Henry, Lord Percey and Thomas Beare gent. held 23 April 20 Charles I [1644] before Thomas Masters gent. deputy steward. Copy of court roll recording the surrender outside the court on 1 January 1643 through Henry Farre and Thomas Carter two of the customary tenants by Thomas Hicken, and the admittance of William Knight the younger and John Becke of Baddesley of one meadow or pasture called Barnemore meadow with all woods, rights and appurtenances then in the tenure of John Bacon. To hold the same according to the custom of the manor for 76 years for the annual rent of 2s. and an entry fine of 6s. 8d. Signed: Thomas Masters, deputy steward.
