Godolphin, Charles Mountague, John Smith [lords commissioners of the Treasury] to the Lord Capell [one of the lords justices of Ireland]. Copy of letter. They enclose a petition of Lord Robert Russell and Letitia his wife setting out that for satisfaction of a debt of £10,000 due to the late Thomas Cheeke his Majesty had granted to the petitioners £600 p.a. for 31 years, payable out of £1,500 p.a. reserved on a grant to the Countess of Dorchester of quitrents in Ireland, and praying that orders be given that the petitioners may receive the arrears on their grant and be paid the sum for the future; his opinion is asked on the matter.
