Lady Russell's grant of £600. Copy of Letters patent of William and Mary. Whereas his late Majesty King James II on 20 March 2 James II did grant to Katherine Countess of Dorchester for 99 years or life certain quitrents in Ireland amounting to £5,000, paying to the crown therefor the yearly rent of £1,500 [also details of another grant and other matters], now in order to recompense Letitia, executrix and late wife of Thomas Cheek, decease, and now the wife of Robert Russell esq. for the money still remaining in arrears on the salary of the said Thomas when he was lieutenant of the Tower, and in consideration of a release of all the said arrears, they have at the nomination of the said Letitia Cheek now Letitia Russell granted to John Conyers of the Middle Temple esq. and Theophilus Colladon doctor in physic an annuity of £600 for 31 years, to be charged upon the said rent of £1,500 p.a., and they further grant to Edward Russell esq. , Francis Russell esq., William Hill and Zachariah Merrill gent. the said quitrents for four years after the determination of the term of Lady Dorchester's grant, upon trust to pay any arrears which may be due on the grant of £600, and to pay the residue into the exchequer. 6 May, 4 William Mary [1692]
