Description

Feoffment from Nicholas Crosseby, vicar of the church of the Holy Trinity of Coventre, John Leder of Coventre, merchant, William Donyngton' and Thomas Fawkoner to John Spensar, John Menley chaplain, John Walgrave, Richard Braytoft and William Clerk of Coventre, `gurdeler', of the following property in Coventr'; six messuages called le Fyscherowe situate together in `vico crucis' [Cross Street] opposite the Cross between the land belonging to the chantry called Allesley Chauntery in which Thomas Norewych' now dwells and the land of John son and heir of William Heydon'; a messuage in `vico crucis' between the land of the Guild of the Holy Trinity which Nicholas. Grene now holds and the land of the prior and convent of the Cathedral church of the Blessed Mary and extending in length from the said street as far as the land of Edward Dilcok; two cottages in `vico sancti Nicholai' [St. Nicholas Street] which Simon Payne formerly held between the land of Henry Syrcok and the land of the said prior and convent; two cottages lying together at le Hilcrosse between the land of the prior and convent of Erdebury and the land of Hugh Spryg', which cottages Thomas Pynkeston' formerly held for life; a messuage and a barn in Doglane, which Peter Weston' now helds situate between the land of John Morys, `bocher' and of the Guild of the Corpus Christi of Coventr' on the one side and the land of Henry Rondull' formerly of William Shipley, the land of Thomas Cleybroke, the land of Master John Solyhull' and the land of Thomas Hawkeslowe on the other side, and extending in length from the lane aforesaid as far as the land of the prior and convent of the said Cathedral church; a messuage in `vico episcopi' [Bishop Street] in which John Buxston' formerly dwelt lying between the stone walls of the city and the land of the said Cathedral church and extending in length from the King's highway to the ditch of the city; ten solions of land lying in the field called Skochersfeld situate in breadth between the croft of the prior and convent of the said Cathedral church, called Peretrecroft and the land of John Burbage of Loughburgh' and extending in length from a lane called Cowndonlane as far as the field called Wylmylnefeld'; all the rent and service of John Reynolde and Margery his wife namely 2 shillings annual rent issuing out of a capital messuage in `vico de Gosford' [Gosford Street] beyond the bridges between the land of the Guild of the Holy Trinity and the land of John Whalley and Alice his wife, the daughter and heir of Thomas Hynton ; a rent and service of 16 pence which the prior and convent of the Carmelite Brothers of Coventre used to pay for a garden in Coventre; 8 shillings annual rent issuing out of a messuage formerly belonging to William Dilcok opposite Jurdonswell', situate between the land of William Clerk formerly belonging to the said William Dilcok and the land of John Shadd' formerly belonging to John, son and heir of John Burbage; 8 shillings annual rent issuing from a messuage next Jurdanswell' which Agnes Staunford' formerly held of Richard Boseworth' of Hareburgh' lying between the land of John Dilcok and the red dike (rubeum fossatum); 20 pence annual rent issuing from a messuage at Broadgate (latam portam) belonging to the chantry of Copston' in which Thomas Sporyour now dwells between the land of Thomas Bristowe and Margery his wife and the land of the hospital of St. John of Coventre; 2 shillings annual rent and service of John Corley, chaplain, issuing out of a messuage in `vico crucis' [Cross Street] in Corvysersrowe between the tenement of John Clerk, son and heir of Richard Clerk and the land of Roger Cokkes; 8s.8d. annual rent issuing out of a messuage situate between the bridges of St. John between the land of the prior and convent of the said Cathedral church and the land theretofore belonging to John Catesby and formerly in the tenure of Philip Fifeld; 4s.6d. annual rent issuing out of a parcel of land in `vico episcopi' [Bishop Street] which Robert Southam holds lying between the land of the said Robert and the land formerly belonging to William Wymondeswolde and Katherine his wife; 7 shillings annual rent issuing from a messuage formerly belonging to Alice Synkeler in `vico episcopi' [Bishop Street] between the land of the prior and convent of the said Cathedral church on both sides, now held by John Rastell'; 2 shillings annual rent issuing from a messuage in `vico coci' [Cook Street] between the land of the Hospital of St. John and the land of the Guild of the Holy Trinity of Coventr', formerly in the tenure of Reginald Profett; 2 shillings annual rent issuing from the messuage which Robert Herward formerly held lying `in vico fontis' [Well Street] between the land of the prior and convent of the said Cathedral church and a lane called Harwardeslane on the other side, and in which Richard Waren, walker, now dwells extending in length from the King's highway to the messuage in which Richard Glover, weaver, now dwells; 2s.6d. annual rent issuing from a messuage in `vico crucis' [Cross Street] which the Mayor and Commonalty hold and which formerly belonged to John Crosse lying between the land of the prior and convent of the said Cathedral church and the land belonging to the chantry of Copston'; to hold the same hereditaments for the term of the lives of William Wymondeswolde and Katherine his wife and the life of the survivor of them of the chief lord of the fee with remainder after the death of such survivor to John Northwod', John Bristowe, Richard Sharp, Richard Danet, and Richard Dene of Coventre, mercer.
