Description

Settlement on the marriage of John Rose the younger, son and heir of John Rose the elder of Mickleton, yeoman, to Sarah one of the daughters of William Freeman of Hidcote Boyce, yeoman, being a conveyance from John Rose the elder, John Rose the younger and Mary Rose, daughter of John Rose the elder, to Robert Loggin of Wincott in Clifford Chambers, esquire, and William Holtham of Dunnington in Salford Priors, yeoman, for £200 paid by the said William Freeman, of the following property in Mickleton: a messuage in the tenure of John Rose the elder, several closes called the Beast Leasow, the Mowing Piece and the Little Meadow containing in all 16 acres, also in his tenure, two closes called Barretts Closes in the tenure of Thomas Barrett, those closes called the Half Yardland, a parcel of ground adjoining Town Furlong containing half an acre, a toft where a messuage lately stood in the tenure of William Blakesley, now called Carbyes Close, containing half an acre, and now in the tenure of John Rose the elder, those closes in Mickleton called the Great Grandbrookes containing 15 acres, late forming three parts of a quarter yardland, late in the tenure of Adam Powell and now of John Rose the elder, two closes called Little Grandbrookes containing 10 acres, lately forming one half quarter of the said yardland, those closes called the Middle Grandbrookes containing six acres, also in the tenure of John Rose the elder, through which closes runs a road from Clopton to Mickleton, and the tithes from Grandbrookes, Little Grandbrookes and Middle Grandbrookes; also a close in Admington called the New Ground containing 17 acres, in the tenure of the said John Rose; to hold the same to the following uses: as to the said messuage and property described thereafter up to and including Carbyes Close (but including only half of Barretts Closes) to the use of John Rose the younger, for life, with remainder to his wife, Sarah, and, after her decease, to their issue; as to the remaining half of Barretts Closes, to the use of John Rose the elder, and, after his decease, to the use of John Rose the younger, Sarah his wife, and their heirs successively; as to Great and Little Grandbrookes, to the use of John Rose the elder for life, and, after his decease, to the use of John Rose the younger and his heirs; as to the Middle Grandbrookes, to the use of John Rose the younger, his heirs or assigns; as to two third parts of the close in Admington to the use of John Rose the younger, and after his decease to his wife; and as to the other third part to the use of John Rose the younger, his heirs and assigns.
