Description

Counterpart of grant indented, by John Webbe, master of the Gild of the Holy Cross etc. of Stratford upon Auen, William Stratford, `taylour', and Reginald Fletcher, proctors of the same, with the assent of the aldermen, to Peter Ward, chaplain, of a sacerdotal service in the Gild `ad celebrandum pro fratibus et sororibus dicte Gilde tam pro viuis quam pro defunctis in dies quando deus sibi sanitatem disposuerit missam celebrare annuatim durante tota vita sua', receiving therfor seven marks annually, and a chamber above the counting-house which master John Barre used to occupy together with a small chamber adjoining and a privy below and part of the garden with the fruit, and a yard of coloured cloth `de le levery' of the Gild annually Witnesses: John Sclatter, `capitalis ballivus', John Mayel, junior, and John Harope `subballivi', Hugh Salford, William Brasyer, and others Dated at Stratford in the hall of the Gild, Tuesday in the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 16 Henry VI Seal and seal tag missing
