Description

Declaration of Trusts and counterpart, reciting DR123/26 and 27 , between Edmund Battersbee of Stratford-upon-Avon, esquire, on the one part and Henry Farrington of Manchester, merchant, and the Revd. Edward Vernon of Chester on the other part, whereby it is agreed that the money raised by the sale and mortgage of the lands listed in DR123/26 and 27 shall be held in trust and invested for the benefit of Edmund Battersbee and upon his death to provide in part for an annuity of £400 for his wife Sophie, the remainder to be held in trust for Thomas Battersbee, son and heir of Edmund Battersbee, until he attains the age of 21, and should he die before reaching this age for his sister Sophie Battersbee the younger, and should she die beforehand to be held in trust for the people mentioned in his will. Upon the death of Edmund Battersbee and his wife, should this occur before Thomas Battersbee reaches his majority, then the profits from the money invested by the said Trustees should be used to provide for the maintenance and education of Thomas and Sophie Battersbee the younger and a sum of £500 given to Thomas Battersbee for his advancement and establishment in business.
