Deeds relating to various charities in Stratford-upon-Avon, later administered by the Trustees of the Municipal Charities, namely : - Richard Lord's charity, 1594-1749 [established by Richard Lord and Emmota his wife, be feoffment dated 4 April 1555, to provide money for the twenty-four almspeople of the borough] - John Turner's charity, 1601-1798 [established by John Turner in 1601 to provide bread for the poor inhabitants of the borough] - John Combe's charity, 1615 [ established under the will of John Combe, proved 1615, to provide loans for poor tradesmen, money for two sermons a year, and ten black gowns for the poor] - Thomas Lucas' charity, 1613-1796 [established under the will of Thomas Lucas, 1625, to provide money for the almspeople] - Thomas Combe's charity, 1657 [established by the will of Thomas Combe, 1657 to provide ten black gowns for the poor, two sermons a year and an annual dinner for bailiff and burgesses] - William Tyler's charity, 1665-1669 [established by the will of William Tyler, 1665, to provide money for twelve poor people of the borough, an annual sermon and an annual dinner for the mayor and chief aldermen]
