Description

Deed poll under the hands of William Whateley of Crolle (Crowle), co. Worcs., clerk, and John Jeffereys of Stratford-upon-Avon, gent., (in accordance with the will of Richard Lorde and Emota his wife) granting to Thomas Barbor, bailiff of Stratford, Richard Quyney, chief alderman of the same, William Wilson, Thomas Rogers, William Persone, John Gybbs, Henry Wilson, John Smythe, vintner, John Sadler, George Badger, and Francis Smythe, alias Hoode, a close between Evesham Lane and Mill Lane which the grantors (together with George Whateley, John Jefferers senior, Robert Mose and Richard Hyll) held by grant of Richard Lord and Emota his wife, dated 4 April 1555; to hold the same according to the uses declared in the said deed. Attached is a schedule reciting an earlier schedule attached to the deed of 4 April 1555, expressing the last will of the said Richard Lord and Emota his wife in respect of the said close, then in the tenure of Richard Hannes, namely that the feoffees shall permit the chamberlains of the borough to collect the rents from the said close and to distribute the same to the twenty-four almspeople of the borough.
