Description

Counterpart of lease, indented, from John Clopton, master, John Hannys, Reginald Flecher, John Gilberte, John Wager, John Brightwell, Thomas Walker, and Richard Walker, aldermen, and John Baker and John Tetersale proctors of the Gild of the Holy Cross etc. of Stratford upon Auen, to Roger Pagette and Agnes his wife of a tenement in Stratford in Hystrete called le Clokhouse, between a tenement of John Hannys in which the said Roger then dwelt, and a tenement of William Harewell, esq., formerly of Roger Yardeley; for 50 years at an annual rent of 5s. and a chief rent of 12d., the said Roger and Agnes to build anew the said tenement and to keep it in repair, and also to find a warden to keep the `campanam' called `le Clokke' then there, at their own costs Witnesses: John Clopton and John Gilberte, constabularii', William Roose and William Brewes `subballivi', Roger Palmar clerk of the Gild, and others Dated at Stratford in the hall of the Gild, on the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 13 Edward IV Seals of red wax.
