4 May 1868 Probate of the will (16 Dec 1867) of James Carey, Stratford-upon-Avon, builder, devising all real and personal estate to wife Maria who is sole executrix. 14 Nov 1876. Probate of the will (11 June 1870) and codicil (6 Apr 1871) of Maria Carey, No. 18 Sheep Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, widow. Bequests of household furniture, linen, etc. in No. 18 Sheep Street to daughters Elizabeth Findon, wife of Henry, Helen Phillips, wife of George, with exception of gas fittings, window blinds, etc. to son Samuel Carey. One railway share each to sons, Samuel and John. - No. 3 West Street, in occupation Mrs. Lane, widow, to son John. - No. 2 West Street, in occupation Miss Webb to daughter Helen Phillips. - No. 16 Broad Street, in occupation Thomas Humphries and No. 18 Sheep Street in testatrix' occupation, to trustees (son John Carey and Thomas Bennett, Stratford-upon-Avon, auctioneer) in trust to pay rents of No. 16 Broad Street to Elizabeth Findon for life and then premises to granddaughter Helen Maria Findon absolutely. Rents of No. 18 Sheep Street to son Samuel Carey for life and then sell for benefit of children of Samuel. - 2 houses in Chestnut Walk with rest of real and personal estate to trustees to sell and divide equally among testatrix' children. Codicil reciting mortgage, c. 1871, of Nos. 2 3 West Street to John Slatter for £100 and subjecting same house to repayment if unpaid at death. With executorial and trust papers re above estate, 1876-1903.
