Probate of the will (20 June 1816) of Enoch Buttwell, Stratford-upon-Avon, draper. Daughter Mary Smith, wife of Thomas, Birmingham, upholsterer and John Edwards, Budbrooke, gent., as Trustees. - £1000 to trustees to invest and pay interest to wife Sarah Buttwell for life or widowhood, then principal and interest to testator's 3 daughters (Mary Smith, Ann Adams, wife of Thomas, Stratford-upon-Avon, grocer, and Deborah Buttwell) equally. - To wife: household goods etc. at discretion of trustees for widowhood, then to daughters. - Real estate (freehold and leasehold) plus residue of personal estate to trustees to sell. - 1 third to Mary Smith. - 1 third to Ann Adams. - 1 third in trust for maintenance and education of Deborah until 21 or marriage with consent, then principal and interest. If marries without consent, interest only for life and then principal to her issue equally at 21 or marriage. If she dies before reaching 21 or marriage then her share equally to sisters. Residue equally between daughters, Mary to have first choice, then Ann and Deborah.
