Probate of the Will (22 June 1881) of William Hatten, Stratford-upon-Avon, yeoman, devising real estate to Trustees (John Slatter, Stratford-upon-Avon, solicitor and Thomas Edwards, Stratford-upon-Avon, accountant) in trust to pay income to housekeeper Susannah Hanson for life and then house in Sheep Street, in tenure George Smith and Widow Inns, to grandson William Hatten, son of testator's son William. Rest of real estate to be sold and proceeds equally between children of son William and daughter Mary Ann Hewins. Clock to grandson William Hatten, watch to grandson William Hewins. Residue personal estate among grandchildren, as before. 1885-1903 Executors and trustees in account with residuary legatees, estate duty papers, both for William Hatten and Susannah Hanson (d. 1902). 1 May 1920 Probate of the will (9 Feb 1920) of William Hatten, No. 17 Ryland Street, retired carpenter and joiner. Nos. 16 and 17 Ryland Street to son Thomas William Hatten, charged with payment of £60 to daughter Clara Helen Stanley, garden ground on Shottery Road equally to son Thomas William and daughter Clara Helen Stanley. £25 each to son and daughter William Ford Hatten and Eliza Ann Basson. £20 equally among sons of Clara Helen Stanley. £10, small fancy table, night commode chair to daughter-in-law Sophia Louisa Hatten, wife of Thomas William. Centre table made by testator, bureau, framed photographs, stack of coal, workshop and garden tools to son Thomas William. Sofa with cushions and antimacassar, books to Mrs. Nason. Armchair in parlour to Mrs. Mary Stanley. Residue of household goods to Clara Helen Stanley. Residue of real and personal estate equally to Thomas William Hatten and Clara Helen Stanley. Executor: son Thomas William. Account Book, 1826-1882, apparently containing business and rent accounts of William Hatten. Possibly 1826-1832 are business of William Hatten (?father of testator of 1881). 1846-1882 rent accounts.
