Description

Conveyance by lease and release (with counterparts) from William Horne of Haselor, yeoman, to John Osborne of Charlecote, miller, in consideration that the latter has agreed to pay the former's debts, of two messuages in Butt Lane [alias Bull Lane] in Old Stratford, having a messuage late of John Compton and now of ----- on the west, and a brick wall belonging to the College on the east; which premises lately belonged to John Powell, deceased, and since to Edward Richardson, who rebuilt the same and later conveyed them to Richard Marshall, who by his will, dated 23 December 1699, devised them to his wife, Anne Marshall, who by her will, dated 17 December 1718, devised them to John Lord and Ambrose Sheldon, in trust to sell, who conveyed them to William Horne; which messuages are now in the tenures of Thomas Hudson [Hutson] and Elizabeth Freeman. Covenant by John Osborne to maintain the said William Horne in meat, drink, clothes, washing, and lodging according to his station, for life, and to pay his wife, Elizabeth Horne, 18d per week during his lifetime; and should William Horne decline to be maintained in the manner aforesaid, then he is to receive an annuity of £12.
