3 Ely Street, Stratford-upon-Avon

Description

Abstract of the title of a messuage and premises in Ely Street with the following recitals: i) 19 and 20 February 1839 (DR326/3 ) ii) 24 and 25 March 1839: mortgage from Robert Wilkins to Abraham Newland of Stratford-upon-Avon, saddler, of all that part of a barn, formerly converted into a chaise house and stable and now rebuilt and used as a carpenter's warehouse and shop, in Ely Street, bounded on one side by the other part of the barn belonging to William Bolton, and on the other by a tenement of Mrs. James, baker; to secure £600. Property, not described in detail, in Sheep Street and Chapel Street was also included in this mortgage. iii) 25 June 1855: assignment from Mary Newland of Stratford-upon-Avon, spinster, (surviving executor of the will of the late Abraham Newland) with the consent of Robert Wilkins, to George Cole of Stratford-upon-Avon, farmer, of the mortgage of 24 and 25 March 1839 (DR326/4/ii) iv) 29 January 1856: letters of administration of the personal estate of George Cole (in his proper name, George Cobb) granted to his widow, Mary Cobb. v) 8 June 1866: affidavit of Mary Cobb (commonly known as Mary Cole) concerning her late husband's identity, and the mortgage assignment of 29 January 1856 vi) 8 June 1866: affidavit of Ann Beavis, wife of Thomas Beavis, and sister of George Cobb, corroborating Mary Cobb's affidavit vii) 8 February 1851: will of Robert Wilkins bequeathing all his freehold and leasehold property to his sons, John Wilkins of Coleshill and Henry Robert Wilkins of West Bromwich, drapers, in trust to sell, and invest the proceeds to the use of his widow, Martha Wilkins for life, and after her death, to the use of the testator's four children viii) 25 June 1866: conveyance from John Wilkins and Henry Robert Wilkins, with the consent of Mary Cobb, to Henry Denis Dighton, for £1350 (£950 to John and Henry Robert Wilkins, and £400 to Mary Cobb to discharge the mortgage) of (amongst other things) part of a barn, rebuilt as a carpenter's warehouse and now converted into a messuage, in the successive tenures of Richard Allen, John Gamble, John Phipps, Mrs. Martha Wilkins and George Dyke ix) 6 July 1866: mortgage from Henry Denis Dighton to William King Ewen of Stratford-upon-Avon, draper, of the said property to secure £1000 x) 26 March 1868: mortgage from Henry Denis Dighton to Jonathan Slatter, of property in Dover and a messuage in Ely Street in the tenure of George Dyke, to secure £100. (cf-DR149/146). xi) 22 August 1870: particulars and conditions of sale of six messuages in Sheep Street (being nos. 42-43 with four cottages behind), no. 3 Ely Street, and no. 8 Chapel Street
