Copy will of John Hawkes, Hopwas Lodge, near Tamworth, Staffs., esq. (1) Messuages and lands at Whittington, Staffs., and all household goods and livestock to Mary Beacroft and Frances Beacroft, testator's natural daughter by said Mary, and Forester Hawkes, testator's natural son by Elizabeth Shaw, singlewoman, for their lives, desiring them to live together. After death of longest liver to trustees: Rt. Hon. Henry, Earl of Suffolk and Berkshire; Thomas Hoo, Bar, Staffs., esq. and George Hall, Packingham, Staffs., gent.:- To use of natural son John Hawkes by Mary Elson alias Elston of Whittington, singlewoman (born 4 July 1767) and to his lawful issue. In default To use of lawful heirs of Frances Beacroft; in default to use of lawful heirs of Forester Hawkes; in default to use of testator's nephew Thomas Langford, Burton-on-Trent, gent., and his lawful heirs. In default To use of Stephen Simpson, Doctor of Physick, son of Stephen of Lichfield, gent., and his heirs and assigns for ever. (2) Manor of Newton in parish of Blythfield, Staffs., with all real estate in same place and in Shelfield and Abbots Bromley. All other real estate in Worcester, Warwicks., and elsewhere To Trustees To pay annuity of £20 to Forester Hawkes for life To raise money to pay debts and legacies. Residue to uses as before. £1400 to daughter Frances Beacroft in addition to her portion. £300 to Mary Beacroft £500 to Forester Hawkes. £50 to Stephen Simpson £30 to Sarah Salt, daughter of Elizabeth Salt, singlewoman late of Whittington, for her maintenance. £30 to Richard, son of Maria Wright, Lichfield, singlewoman. Gold ring of £1.1.0 value to each of testator's sisters Ann Blackam and Eliz. Langford. 50 guineas each to Trustees. Residue of personal estate to George Hall and Thomas Hoo.
