Kingshill in Stoneleigh deeds and papers

Description

Assignment from Jane Waiste of Barkswell, widow, to John Gregorie of Stivechall, esq., of all her interest, as administratrix of George Marbury, in the manor of Kingeshill, as in other lands in co. Warwick and in the city of Coventry, formerly the freehold the inheritance of Arthur Gregorie deceased, and extended under a bond of 500 marks from the said Arthur Gregorie to George Marbury; to hold the same for the duration of the said extent. Signed by the mark of Jane Waiste. Seal on tag: circular, red. The arms of Gregory. Witnesses: John Wicksteed, Robert Chadburne and Thomas Smyth (by mark). Endorsed with the following memoranda: i) Memorandum that on 15 March 1630/1 Jane Wast entered a messuage in Stivichall in the holding of Richard Gregory and left Richard Smyth there to keep possession, that she then entered Edward Sturton's house in Stivichall and left Mathew Winfield there, and that she then entered pasture ground in Brinklow called the Hills, and there sealed and delivered this assignment to John Gregory and left him in possession of that piece of land in the name of the whole. Witnesses: Robert Chadburne, John Wicksteed ii) Memorandum that this deed was shewed unto John Wickstedd, gent. and Robert Chadburne at the tyme of their examinacions taken at the Citty of Coventrey the xiij supt; suph; day of Aprill Anno Domini 1631 before us: Richard Randell, Will: Westley.
