Stivichall Land Tax redemption

Description

Certificate of a contract for the redemption of £25. 10s. 0d. land tax charged on lands of Francis Gregory of Stivichall, esq. (sundry messuages and four hundred and seventy-six acres in Stonely in the occupations of John Simson and others, and the manor and a messuage and ninety acres in Brincklow in the occupation of Thomas Congreve), the consideration being £935 capital stock in 3 percnt; consols. Endorsed with assignment from Francis Gregory to Joseph Grote of Badgmore, co. Oxon., esq., George Grote of Threadneedle Street, London, banker, and Charles Stirling, Vice-Admiral in H.M. Navy, of the said annual sum of £25. 10s. 0d. Also endorsed with further assignment from Charles Stirling (the said Joseph Grote and George Grote having since died) to George Grote of Threadneedle Street, London, banker and Rev. William Cresley of Stowe House near Lichfield, co. Staffs., clerk.
