Description

Deed of settlement by Thomas, Lord Leigh and Eleanor, Lady Leigh upon trustees (Ann, Dowager Lady Rockingham and Hon. Thomas Watson, one of the younger sons of the said Ann) of quarter part of the manor of Long Itchington, the advowson, coppice woods (130 acres); messuage and closes in the occupation of Henry and John Lynes; manor house and lands in occupation George Grimes; messuage and lands in occupation ---- Garrett, widow; messuage, cottage and lands in occupation Thomas Banbury; cottage and lands in occupation George Britten; cottage and appurtenances in occupation John Nunn and Nathaniel Duglas, close in occupation ---- Garrett; meadow in occupation ----, all in Long Itchington also moiety of messuage and appurtenances in Over Fletchampsted in Stoneleigh, formerly in occupation Thomas Potter, late Thomas Man, known as Stoke Tyth Hill alias Tile Till, with other lands in Over Fletchampstead viz The House Close (10 acres) in two divided; The Great Meadow (20 acres) in two divided; The Close next the Great Wood (17 acres) in two divided; Three Corner Meadow (2 acres); three closes taken out of Middle Wood (12 acres); Close between the two woods (3 acres), three coppice woods (10 ac., 18 ac., 42 ac.); messuage and closes appurtant known as Sokemans Tosall in Canley, in occupation Edward Casemore. In trust to use of Thomas, Lord Leigh for life, then to Eleanor, Lady Leigh for life in augmentation of her jointure. After the death of the survivor then to the trustees to raise portion of £5000 for Eleanor, one of younger daughters of Thomas, Lord Leigh, payable at 18 or on marriage, and £100 per annum maintenance until 18. After payment, reversion to Lord Leigh and heirs. Endorsed, 14 May 1709 with memo by Thomas Watson, now Wentworth, of Wentworth Woodhouse, Yorks, reciting death of Ann, Lady Rockingham and mortage by Lease and Release 13 and 14 May 1709 to Joseph Sherwood, New Inn, to secure £7,300 to raise portion for Hon. Eleanor Leigh.
