Marriage articles, 14 January 1780, between John Lewis, Droitwich, surgeon and apothecary, Elizabeth Phillips, daughter of John Phillips of the Tything of Whiston [Whitstone], Claines, Worcs., the said John Phillips and John Phillips the younger, his son, of Merton College, Oxford, securing a legacy of £500 due to Elizabeth Phillips under the will of John Cooke, Worcester, apothecary, at age 24 to John Phillips the elder and younger - trustees to pay interest to John Lewis for life with remainders to Elizabeth and any children. Signed by all parties. Receipt, 9 April 1783, from John Phillips senior and junior for £500 from executors of John Cooke.
