Tanworth

Description

Release from William Chambers, son and heir of William Chambers, late of the Brook in Tanworth deceased to Andrew Archer of Umberslade Hall esquire for £5 of property described in an agreement recited between the said William Chambers the elder and Thomas Archer esquire deceased, father of the said Andrew, to exchange certain lands to make a lane and coachway from Umberslade Hall and the town of Tanworth, which lane was made in the lifetime of the said Thomas, the said William Chambers the elder having given to the said Thomas Archer a close called Brooke Close in Tanworth and a freeway from Wignall meadow and other lands called Sherrans Hill, Henfield, Bean close, alias Fullwoods land and ditched to the lane of the said Andrew to the lane or highway at Knilbury Cross in Tanworth and from the said lane to Wignall meadow, for riding and all manner of carriages, which way was intended to be in place of an old way anciently belonging to the said other closes of William Chambers leading towards a place called Butts, which old way was stopped up by the making of the said new lane, as in deed of 5 April 1697.
