Description

Gift with warranty from Hugh Tofte and Alice his wife of Hatton, husbandman, to John Archer esquire of Tonworth' of a grove called Nether Countelowe lying in the lordship of Hatton' between the road leading to Warwycke as far as Haseley, Pyfylde and Mayel Countelowe; to hold for ever from the chief lords of the fee for due and customary service. Appointment of John Scheldon' as attorney to deliver seisin. Dated at Tonworth 22 October 20 Henry VII. Witnesses: Robert Fullwode gentleman, Henry Persons chaplain, Thomas Wescote, John Sydnall', John Persons and many others. 1. Fragment of red wax on tag. 2. Circular seal of red wax on tag, 1/2 in. Endorsed: [In the same hand] I Henry Parsons wrote this deed and was present when the grantors sealed it and delivered it to John Archer esquire. [Contemp.] Memorandum that John Edward' priest was at Hatton' 26 July [1505] when the grantors gave the said John seisin of the said lands in the name of John Archer the elder.
