Description

Gift from Richard Horn and William Caus of Honyngham to William Rasshe of Honyngham and Alice his wife of a messuage and 20 acres of arable land in Honyungham which the grantors lately held by the gift and feoffment of the said William Rasshe; to hold to the said William and Alice for their lives from the chief lords of the fee for due and customary service, with remainder after their deaths to John, son of the said William Rasshe, and his lawful issue, in default to William, brother of the said John, and his lawful issue, or in defaualt to Thomas, brother of the said William, and his heirs and assigns for ever. Dated at Honyngham Sunday after the feast of St Mathew the Apostle, 7 Henry IV. Witnesses: John de Cotes, Thomas Stafford', John de Napton', John Vykers, William Alen, Henry Walshe of Boltenhull' and others. 2 Circular seals of red wax on tags, 1/2 in. Endorsed: [Contemp.] Memorandum that the said Alice if she survived the said William was to maintain the said property at her own expense in as good or better condition as at was at the time of his death and to make no waste on pain of 100s. to be paid to john son of the said William or to his executors. Attached: Memorandum that the said John son of the said William Rassh would plough for seed at a fit time all the said arable land at his own cost annually during the lifetime of the said William.
