Description

Lease with warranty from Robert de Ullenhale to Simon de Manecestr' and Isabell his wife of a close called Chesewich' and le Henedemor with the heath opposite Chesewich' and with all other appurtenances as are contained in an earlier cyrograph made between the said parties; with this addition that the said Simon and Isabell may for life collect all kinds of wood there save oaks, ashes and growing appletrees, and sell or grant the same at their pleasure; and should the said Simon and Isabella wish to have one or two parcels of the choice oaks to sell and cut down, they may do so at the right time of year, provided they enclose the land so that more trees may grow; and the said Simon and Isabell may also erect buildings in the said close, either from timber there or from other material and these they may give, sell, assign or carry away at any time; and their assigns may have the same rights in the said property for ten years after the death of the said Simon and Isabell for the annual rent of 1 penny at Michaelmas; and for this the said Simon and Isabell give 20 shillings. Witnesses: Roger de Sydenhale, John le Archer, Thomas de la Lee, Robert le Couper, William le Franceys, Adam son of Henry Ysabel, Robert de Frenouse and others. Dated on the eve of the feast of St. Martin, 9 Edward I. Seal on tag, circular, white, defaced.
