Description

Feoffment from William Whatlye of Henlye in Ardena, yeoman, to Robert Snape and John William of Bewdysert, husbandmen, and Thomas James of Wootton Wawen, husbandman, of a messuage with a croft adjacent to the same lying in Henley in Ardena in breadth between the land formerly of the Gild of Henley and the land of John Harper on the south and extending in length from the place of the said town to the land of the said John Harper, and one shop lying in Henlye in the middle place opposite the said house, a garden lying in Henlye from the water running from the mill through the said place to the water running from the back of the said town called the Fludyeat brooke, also a meadow called Lymberses, divided into two parts by the river, lying in the lordships of Bewdisert and Ullenhall, lying in length from Lymbses grene to Botley ford and in breadth between the land of Edward Aston knight called Banstalls on the one hand and the land of John Harman gentleman called Walters on the other hand, also a croft lying in Forde ende in the lordship of Ullenhall in breadth between the land of Edmund Berge called Stonye Hill on the one hand and the land of the heirs of Chambers on the other hand and extending in length frm the land of the heirs of John Ferfoxe of Barforde to the land formerly of the Gild of Henley, and one other croft lying in Bewdisert in breadth between the croft called Belam Crofte on the one hand and the land of Edmund Berrge on the other hand and extending in length from the land called Buckley land to the land of the heirs of Chambers; all which property the said William held by the gift of Hugh Marven [see DR37/1/2858] of Henlye gentleman; to hold to the use of the said William Whatley and his legitimate male heirs for ever and in default to hold to the use of Peter Whatley of Henlye in Ardena, brother of the said William, and his heirs and assigns for ever from the chief lords of the fee for due and customary service; appointment of John Hill as attorney to deliver seisin.
