Description

Inspeximus of the deposition of a witness in the court of Chancery at the request of and on behalf of Katherine Dormer, widow, one of the executors of the will of her husband, Sir Michael Dormer, deceased: the witness, John Goodwynne of Ouer Wynchendonne county Buk' esquire aged 63 years, was examined 8 October 3 Edward VI [1549] concerning an alleged letter proving repayment of £200 to the said Sir Michael from Richard Archer esquire, deceased, being part of the debt owed by the said Richard to the said Sir Michael; the witness denied that this money had been paid through him, but gave an account of the various negotiations by which the said Sir Michael tried to make the said Richard repay the debt more quickly or else hand over his son to the said Sir Michael, including a visit made by the said John to the house of the said Richard at the request of the said Sir Michael.
