Description

Gift from Edmund Trussel, knight to Alice who was the wife of John de Stapulton of the same (?Tanworth), to Margery and Alice, daughters of the same John Stapulton, of all the lands and tenements which the grantor held by gift and feoffemnt of the said Alice wife of the said John reserving to the grantor and his heirs a certain way for carts and oats to be driven backwards and forwards from a certain road leading from Charlecote pol towards the courthouse ? (curia) of John le Arch' on the one hand as far as the meadow of the grantor called Longmede on the other and one field called le homfeld with meadow, hedges and all appurtenances, which field extends in breadth from the highway leading from Charlecote pol towards the courtyard of John le Arch' on the one hand and as far as le Stonycroft on the other, to hold the said lands to the said Alice, Margery and Alice and their lawful heirs, rendering one flowering rose on the feast of the nativity of St John the Baptist [ 24 June] for all the services and making due and customary service to the chief lords of the fee. All the said lands to revert to the grantor if there are no lawful heirs of the said Alice, Margery and Alice. Witnesses: John de Bartone, Henry de Sydenhale, Robert de Folewode, Richard atte Berne, Thomas Wystan and others. Red wax circular seal, shield couche emblazoned with a cross, flory debruised with a bend, shield surmounted by a plumed helmet and a ?star and crescent. Endorsed: 1.
