Description

Contemporary copy of Indenture of fine between Hawis who was the wife of John de Lodbrok Knt, Plaintiff and William son of Nicholas de Wodeward' of Ichinton, deforciant. The manor of Herburbury [Harbury] and appurtenances and a messuage, 100 acres of land, 30 acres of meadow, 100 acroes of pasture, 100 acres of wood and 40 acres of heath in Toneworth'. The said plaintiff to hold the same for life from the chief lords of the fee for due and customary service with remainder to William de Catesby for life and then to Thomas son of John de Lodbrok, knt, and Alice , daughter of the said William de Catesby and their lawful issue for ever, but in default of such issue the said manor to pass to the rightful heirs of the said Thomas for ever and the remainder of the said messuage and lands to pass to the said Thomas and Alice and their male heir issue or in default in turn to the male issue of the said Thomas, Hugh brother of Thomas, John brother of Hugh or in default to the rightful heirs of the said William de Catesby for ever. Made at westminsteron the morrow of the Ascension of Our Lord, 24 Edward III. II of France. Consideration: 100 marks silver from Hawis to William. Latin, parchment, 12.25 x 8.25 ins.
